My wife is a professional calligrapher, this is one of her recent work.

I have just discovered that one of my printers, the Epson L14150, has a maintenance box that must me replaced when it’s full of ink. An unexpected cost, that I may need to consider from now on.

In the past I used to use Twitter, Medium, Reddit, Feedly and Instagram.

Now I keep all these plus micro.blog, social.lol, status.lol and now.garden.

My side project today was to configure email sending for both name@userid.omg.lol (using free tier of Zoho Mail) and userid@omg.lol (using 30 days free trial of Fastmail).

Both options were easy to setup and are working as expected!

I came accross this Medium post today and it’s providential that it appeared just when I need to declutter my Mac desktop for the new year.

It lists 5 Mac apps that helps to both organize the desktop and to increase the user productivity; one of them I am already using (HazeOver) and can recommend it myself; the other 4 I wil try soon.

I am still discovering this world of indie microblogging, reading Manton’s book and experimenting with micro.blog. One of my concerns was writing too much , and too many short posts that would pollute the micro.blog timeline. But then I understood that nobody will see what I post, except myself and those who (by any chance) follow me. So now I am feeling free to write what I want, when I want. No pressure at all.

I hope @manton doesn’t mind, but I managed a way to manually download the book, suitable for Kindle. Perfect reading for a week at the beach

2nd business day of 2023 and 6 new orders to deliver this week; most important, 3 orders are from returning customers. Expectations (and needs) and high for this year. I hope this good start will continue throughout the year.

I have never defined a "theme" for a following year, I usually just let it go, with no high level planning or written goals; the result is that at each year-end I feel that I did nothing relevant to improve my life.

But I have recently discovered this concept of “year themes” and found it interesting and easy to implement so, after further reflection, I have defined my 2 themes for 2023:

• Health
• Revenue

In "Health", I will continue to exercise regularly; I started it 6 months ago and it's really good. And I will also resume my music study, paused due to the pandemics and the economical situation.

In "Revenue", I will focus and dedicated more time, intelligence and planning to my business, to turn it into my major source of income.

Watched Netflix’s Matilda The Musical with my wife yesterday. We liked it, but we still prefer the original movie.

I have just remembered that I bought a Ulysses license back in 2016 (paid US$44.99) when I received my first MacBook from the company I was working for; as I have never been a frequent and constant writer, I completely forgot about it, and have not upgraded since then.

Downloaded this old version from Apple Store today and it’s working fine, BUT it doesn’t have the option to post to micro.blog (only Medium and WordPress) ☹️, and I can’t afford to upgrade to the Ulysses subscription model. Is there a way to make it talk to micro.blog?

BUT it reminded me that I also have an IA Writer license! And that’s what I am using right now to write and post this to my micro.blog; it’s a little bit weird as it just generates a draft that must be submitted from micro.blog site, but let’s see how it performs.

I wasn’t looking for any new web service in particular or for another mastodon instance, but when I discovered omg.lol on the micro.blog timeline, it was impossible not to sign it up immediately and start playing with all the services offered.

Há 6 meses, pouco antes de completar 57 anos de idade, eu finalmente comecei a me exercitar regularmente, frequentando a academia do clube em que sou associado. Em média, vou à academia 3 vezes por semana, apenas com uma pausa de 2 semanas em novembro devido a ter adoecido com Covid19, já estando na 4a ficha de exercícios.

A motivação para esta mudança em minha vida foi acompanhar a minha filha mais nova, que deseja aumentar sua massa muscular, está motivada com este objetivo e para isso conta com a assistência de um personal-trainer.

As mudanças em meu corpo já são muito visíveis; se antes eu escovava os dentes de costas para o espelho porque não gostava do que via, agora fico observando o surgimento de músculos que eu nem imaginava que existiam, nos braços, tórax, ombros e pernas; a barriga ainda está mais protuberante do que eu gostaria, ainda carrego uma “pochete” na cintura, mas mesmo ali percebo mudanças, ainda que mais lentas.

Em breve terei meu check-up anual, quando espero observar melhora clínica também, além das mudanças física e psicológica.

Dá preguiça? Dá sim, ainda mais devido ao trânsito de casa até a academia. É legal fazer os exercícios? Alguns são chatos, outros são mais legais, na média está OK, dá para levar numa boa. Qual a playlist? Tenho 2 que mais ouço: Alan Walker e Disco dos Anos 70; agora estou ouvindo músicas com cavaquinho também, pois pretendo voltar a estudar música em fevereiro de 2023.

Atualização prevista para daqui a 6 meses. Até lá.

Hoje foi dia de remover por completo o pacote Adobe do meu MacBook. Pelo uso que faço em minha empresa, basicamente o Illustrator e o Photoshop, a assinatura mensal do Creative Cloud (R$224,00/mês) não se justifica; mesmo considerando que minha filha utiliza eventualmente o InDesign para seus trabalhos de faculdade, ainda assim é muito caro.

A opção que fizemos foi pelo pacote Affinity da Serif, cuja versão 2.0 acabou de ser lançada com um preço especial, US$99,99 pela licença lifetime (40% de desconto). A licença permite instalar os aplicativos em todos em computadores que eu possuo em casa, tanto Mac quanto Windows, sem restrições.

Testamos por algumas semanas o Designer, o Photo e o Publisher, que atenderam plenamente nossas necessidades. O valor ainda é alto, após a conversão para reais mais o IOF, mas a vantagem em relação à Adobe é indiscutível.

Outro benefício, além do valor, é que o software da Affinity é mais leve, ocupando menos espaço no SSD e rodando mais rápido, tanto no Mac quanto no Windows.

Hi, this is just a test post from MarsEdit 5, released today. Yet to decide if it´s worth the price as I am not an avid blogger and, when converting the price in US Dollars to Brazilian Reais, it is an expensive purchase.

It took me some time to configure MarsEdit as the help pages on both MarsEdit and micro.blog sites are not very clear, but it seems to be OK now.

Ontem eu perdi uma bermuda em casa e não achei de jeito algum, revirei a casa toda e nada. Pedi ajuda à inteligência artificial do Todoist que gerou uma sequência de passos para procurar a bermuda, alguns já tinha feito ontem. Hoje a berrmuda apareceu! Foi justamente o último passo indicado pelo Todoist!

O vinho de ontem foi um The Listening Station Shiraz 🍷, enviado pelo Clube Wine. Eu acho que ainda não havia tomado um australiano e fiquei bem impressionado. Um vinho leve, macio e agradável. Acompanhou bem uma carne assada com molho de mostarda Dijon. O par dele é um Cabernet Sauvignon, que será degustado em breve.

Uma vez, em um treinamento em Poughkeepsie - NY, um americano me perguntou qual o tamanho do Brasil, se era tão grande quanto o Texas; e olha que havia um mapa-mundi na sala de reuniões!
